What is Skype?

Sparing you the technical and complicated peer-to-peer (Voice over Internet Protocol -- VoIP -- technology) explanation; simply put, Skype is free software that allow users to communicate with friends, family, and colleagues around the world -- in many cases for free!

Skype offers many features including SkypeIN (incoming phone number), SkypeOut (call to cellphone or landlines), as well as VoiceMail, Call Forwarding, Call Transfering.

Although not meant to be a 'phone replacement system', as there is no E911 access, Skype is adding many (most) of the features availabe through standard POTS systems.
