Weatherproof Active External GPS AntennaMobile Crossing's MMCX Connector style GPS antenna is fully compatible with all Mobile Crossing GPS products and all GPS products using the MMCX style connector. The external GPS antenna is an optional accessory for your GPS receiver. What is an MMCX Connector? The MMCX Connector is a nice improvement over the old MCX style connector. The Mobile Crossing Active External Antenna has a very nice locking type connector that gives a positive "click" when fully engaged, as opposed to the older style with the friction fit. This makes the antenna harder to accidentally pop out during rough travels and exhibits a higher level of quality. Look at the close up picture of the MMCX connector, it is gold plated and you can see the level of detail in the finger grips at the connector. Why do you need such an antenna? In certain conditions, or inside certain vehicles, it may be necessary to have the GPS antenna mounted externally for optimum satellite reception. Some vehicles have coatings that block the signal, and some vehicles like RVs have finicky placement that makes this accessory useful for boosting the signal. Where do I place such an antenna? The GPS antenna can be placed on your vehicle's roof using its built-in magnetic base. This offers more flexibility on where the GPS receiver can be placed. The base is rubberized and will not mar the paint on your vehicle. This antenna comes with an extra long tangle proof cable. It is roughly 18 feet long. What devices are compatible with this antenna?
