Modify a Gator Original Gig Box

voltzHello this is John Roesch @ Amperor Music. I am going to take you through the steps in order to modify your original gig box by Gator Cases in order for it to easily accommodate the Voltz Pedal Board Power Supply setup.

First off, you’re going to need a drill with a 5/8 spade bit, measuring tape, a marker, a cutting utensil, some glasses & of course, the old friend masking tape.

And first off, I would like to say that if you purchase this gig box from Amperor Music then you don’t have to worry about any of these modifications because they’re already in place.

So let’s get started. First off, you take the pedal board out of the box & take your masking tape. What you’re going to want to do is take the masking tape across all the board and place it down so it’s equal center on the board, as such.

Then you’re going to want to take your measuring tape & measure straight across. It should be roughly about 30 inches & we’re going want to make 5 holes. So, what you’re going to do is take your marker & mark off at 5 inches, 10 inches, 15 inches, 20 inches & 25 inches.

Then you’re going to want to cut the carpet, or the velcro adhesive, on this before you actually do any of your drilling in order to avoid getting the mess tangled up in your drill bit. And make these cuts at each stripe that you placed at the 5, 10 15 20 & 25 mark.

As you can see, the cuts do not actually have to be perfect. They just have to be enough material removed so it doesn’t get binded in your spade bit.

Next we are actually going to drill the holes, so first before you mess up your table it is advised that you do get something to place underneath it while you do your drilling. This could be anything from stacked up cardboard, foam that came with the box or any 2x4 material.

Center the actual bit inside the circle & begin to drill. And then just repeat that 4 more times & then you have the whole thing done. Ok then, now what you should end up with after you’ve cleaned everything off is a pedal board with 5 5/8 inch holes all equal distance on the pedal board. One at 5, then 10, 15, 20 & 25 inches. So, after that you’re ready to put it back into your gig box & then put the Voltz Pedal Board Power Supply inside & that’s coming up next.
