Reboot - A Way to Fix Your Skype Device

Whenever you have problem with your Skype phone that has been working for a while, here is a strategy that you can try to solve the problem. According to my experience, it works over 70% of the time. I call this the ctrl-alt-del approach. Just follow the following steps and skip those that are not applicable to you.

  • Disconnect the Skype device from your PC.
  • Power off your Skype device and remove all batteries if applicable. Power off your PC also.
  • Turn off your router.
  • Wait five minutes for the network to clear itself.
  • Restart your PC and router.
  • Download and reinstall the latest offical Skype software (not the beta version).
  • Power on your Skype device and install batteries if needed.
  • Connect your Skype device to the PC or router.
  • Download and reinstall the latest drivers for your Skype Device. You may need to reinstall your audio and video drivers also.
  • Configure your Skype device as if it were new. Follow the instructions in the owner's manual.
  • Try again. Good luck!!!
