Unlimited Plan

Skype is a pretty young and growing company. It is still working on developing a quality support systems and has a way to go. Many questions associated with the Skype Unlimited calling plan were raised because of the vague description of the plan. Skype places some limitations which are not clearly explained and are not obvious.

If you need Skype support, this article, "Getting Support from Skype", will show you how to do it.

Follow this link to get the official description of Skype Unlimited

Here are some tidbits I collected over the past months:

  1. For Skype Unlimited, "you get 12 months of SkypeOut calling within the 50 US states and Canada.” Since Skype can only tell where you are from your IP addresses, your IP addresses must be located in US or Canada. You can check your IP address location from http://www.ip-adress.com.  This plan is not for you if you or your friends are outside of North America.
  2. Call forwarding is not part of Skype Unlimited. You have to pay extra for the service.
  3. Payments for Skype Unlimited are not Skype credits and they will not show up as such in your account statement.
  4. Logon  to your account in www.skype.com to check your account history and status. This is a good way to check if you have successfully signed on to the plan. If the data are incorrect, log off and sign on again; this would force the data to be updated.
  5. To read terms and conditions for Skype Unlimited go to http://www.skype.com/company/legal/terms/unlimited_calling.html.
  6. You can only use one payment account (e.g. credit card or PayPal) for one Skype account. Do not use the same credit card for two or more Skype accounts. Some one had reported that Skype would accept payments for both accounts, but only one would be working.
  7. If you are a new purchaser of Skype credits, there is a restriction on the purchase amount for the first three months.
  8. If you need help on how to use a voucher, go to here.
