ChoiceMMed MD300Cx line of finger pulse oximeters shared many components and they differ mostly on the available features, exterior design and construction. Here we collect a list of issues which are common to most pulse oximeters from ChoiceMMed.

Frequency Asked Questions

Are the oximeters certified: The oximeters has been certified in many countries. Here is a partial list: USA FDA 510K, Japan PMDA, Canada CMDCAS, ISO 13485, ISO 9001.

Is the oximeter accurate: The oximeters have met all the accuracy standards in order to obtain the certification. In fact, the ±3% accuracy is limited by the technology and is common to most pulse oximeters regardless who makes them.

Are there any conditions that would cause the oximeters to report inaccurate results?: The performance depends on the pulsatile character of the artery. The measurement would not be considered reliable and accurate if the following conditions are present during measurement :

  • The patient is in cardiac arrest or shock
  • Venous pulsations
  • Cold hand
  • Have taken vascular activity medicine
  • Anemia
  • Carboxyhemoglobin
  • Methemoglobin
  • Methylene blue
  • Indocyanine green
  • Finger nail polish

For more details, see Pulse Oximeter Limitations

What do the error codes mean:

  • Err 1: program memory damaged.
  • Err 2: data memory damaged.
  • Err 3: sensor Red Emission Tube damaged.
  • Err 4: sensor Infra red-ray Emission Tube damaged.
  • Err 5: sensor Infra red-ray Receipt Tube damaged.
  • Err 6: exterior crystal oscillator damaged.
  • Err 7 & Err 8: sensor emission tube or receipt tube damaged.
  • Err 9: real time clock damaged.
  • Err 10: EEPROM chip damaged.

What can the oximeter do for me?: The SpO2 level and pulse rate tell a lot about your general health condition and help you to pace yourself while exercising. See Benefits of Pulse Oximeter and Many Uses of Oximeters for more details.
